Well it looks like the the weather is taking a turn for the better this week, and so is the fishing. As the week moves on, the tides are become more conducive to bring in more salmon. Also with the nicer weather though, be prepared for our insect friends.

Dolly fishing continues to be good to great. With all the rain of last week, more and more creeks are finding the dollies transitioning from salt to fresh. With that being said, do not overlook the great beach fishing that is currently going on out at Dupont, Echo Cove and Eagle Beach. Patterns to try in freshwater and estuaries include: Clousers, small smolt patters and Wooly Buggers of different colors. In the salt try: Stinger Clousers, Neil Creek Darts, Pops Sandlance and other bait fish patterns. The longer patterns can be very effective off of the sandy beaches.

Sockeye, like Kings, have been late to the gate this year. With the larger tides and rain fall from the last few days, we are expecting to hear good things from Windfall this week.

The hatchery king fishing has been slow so far this year, but good reports as of late from the salt guys, has us fly guys getting excited. There are a few reports of fish moving through the estuary Fish Creek. Target these guys just before and after the high tide. Though a little harder to fish, other spots to check out are between Salmon Creek and Dipac and the mouth of Auke Creek. Try big flashy patterns like Rock Stars and Guide Intruders in pinks, chartreuses and blues.

Be sure to take advantage of the nicer weather this week and go catch some fish!
